About Us

A group of Ellensburg citizens formed the Washoe Tribute Group to raise funds for a memorial to Washoe. This will take the form of a bronze statue that will be sited in a simple park-like setting in downtown Ellensburg — a welcoming place to rest, take photos, and tell Washoe's story to future generations.

We are a private non-profit group, not affiliated with Friends of Washoe, or the Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute. The Central Washington University Foundation will manage our funds, following their mission of public service. All contributions tax-deductible.

Members: Barbara Bicchieri, Anne Denman, Gregory Maes, Donna Nylander, Jean Putnam, Charlotte Tullos, and Jerry Williams.

About You

The Washoe Tribute Group would like to extend our sincerest "Thank You!" to the following people, businesses, and organizations for their contributions to this project, be it approvals, endorsements, in-kind donations, inspiration, recommendations, reviews, suggestions, time spent, etc.
Our "Thank You!" list of people who've made monetary donations is coming soon.

Two young sisters, Cailyn and Courtney Rogers at the ages of 7 and 11, had a yard sale and raised 50 dollars toward the statue. And for the following two years repeated the effort for a total contribution of 150 dollars.
